Top 10 Albums of 2008 and Other Tidbits!

7 02 2009

*NOTE: I originally posted this on my Facebook page but have since edited it slightly for this post.

The idea of a Top 10 List is a little ridiculous. We all need and want different things from music; it is the soundtrack to different moments in our lives. Therefore opinions will vary from person to person. And with the vast array of music available to us, there is and was certainly lots of it to keep us company and fulfill our every need. That being said Top 10’s are fun and provide opportunities for people to explore and share musical ideals. Year end lists also allow us to open doors to new music for our friends who may love something completely different and vice versa. I’ve always been a huge music fan/nerd and love a lot of different types of music (new country and any Idol programs don’t count), I’m also a music snob…and with those polar opposite views, here is a glimpse into my soundtrack for 2008.

TOP 10 of 2008 (in no particular order):
1. Kings of Leon ‘Only By The Night’
2. TV on the Radio ‘Dear Science’
3. Bon Iver ‘ For Emma, Forever Ago’
4. She and Him ‘Volume One’
5. Fleet Foxes ‘Fleet Foxes’
6. The Gaslight Anthem ‘The 59 Sound’
7. Polar Bear Club ‘Sometimes Things Just Disappear’
8. Torche ‘Meanderthal’
9. Arkells ‘Jackson Square’
10. Constantines ‘Kensington Heights’

There were tons of albums I never got to listening to yet, and I’m sure I’m missing some gems from this past year, but here are some other albums that got me dancing…at least in my mind grapes!
